Fixes:
- Video rendering fix for several graphics cards (mainly NVidia)
- Fixed bug where selecting the “None” void area background would not get loaded correctly on startup (it was showing up as “Bumps”).
Most graphics cards seem to require power-of-two textures, so I’ve adhered to this for the video rendering. This has worked on every machine I’ve tested it out on, and with some additional testing from Bry (thanks Bry!).
To try out 4DO 1.0.6.3 alpha, head to to the download page:

Johnny, you did not answer, why there is no stereo sound on the emulator?
Only mono plays.
Now all the shows I have no distortion, but will in the future, introduced a system of screens and other anti-aliasing filters?
Thank you for your work.
There’s no way to use anti-aliasing filter atm coz games are software renderer. You can filter it blurring the image (bilinear) or making it sharper, but you cannot real antialas the poligons ingame
Not until hardware acceleration
For the records, I’ll just point out that Stranno’s explanation is exactly right.
I appreciate Greatly Your Work , I am sure that the graphic rendering is now identical to a real 3DO 😉
Keep this Way 🙂
Do not flatter yourself
xbox360 pad fine work
but madcatz arcade fightstick dont work
thank you!!!!!!!!
Very good Johnny. Your work is awesome!!
Now the video seems to be correct and it’s not jerky (in technical way, I guess you would say “correct FPS”).
Anyway, I still see that sometime (not predictable) the emulator freezes. I cannot tell you more except that I play SSF2T (US) but I think this happens with other games too.
I can say that this happens to other people too (I read it in some comments before). If you need more informations to investigate, please tell me how I can help you (send you core dumps, logs, something like that!!).
Many thanks from all of us. With FourDO you have brought me back 15 years ago! :’-)
This is a great work you have here. I bought a 3DO back in 93 or 94 for about $650 and I had 13 games. I thought it would beat the pants out of the PSX. When the company tanked I was angry because it was a better made unit. I will try this emu and let you know what I think. I have tried other emu’s and could not get my favorite game (Twisted the Game Show) to work.
Sorry John, I have the same intel chip as 4DO_Tester and the same problem. I’m also able to get 1.0.5.1 working for me, but just not the game disk I have (Twisted). I will stay up to date on the posts and maybe I can get you the technical data from the crash I get when I try to run 1.0.6.3 or maybe I just need a new computer 😉
jonny, сделайте так чтобы doom заработал нормально без тормозов, как это было на freedo, или 3do фанаты нашлют на вас проклятье!!!
Hi,
Graphics still messed up in Sam Showdown for me on my GTX 460:

wow that’s interesting. I will see if I can verify that this happens for me too.
This is a bug in the FreeDO Core as it happens on FreeDO too. Compatibility improvements will be worked on once the emulator’s main functions are all implemented and functioning correctly.
Is there a place here, where I can find the minimum hardware and software requirements, cause 4do crashes, no matter what kind of version I use.
A couple of days ago I thought Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package was needed, but I was wrong or at least this didn’t fix my problem.
I have tested 4DO on two diffent system …
1) Intel Atom 1,6 Ghz / 1GB RAM / Intel 945 Express Chipset
2) Intel Quad Core 2,67 GHz / 1GB RAM / Nvidia GeForce 210
Both system run Windows XP SP3 with DirectX 9.0c
Any ideas?
Best regards,
4DO_Tester
diffent = different
2) 4GB RAM instead of 1GB RA

Software prerequisites are here:
http://www.fourdo.com/?page_id=45
4DO_Tester,
if you install the 3 things on the link above and you still have troubles, post again with what is going on.
I got 1.0.5.1 to work on the ATOM platform using the prerequisites, but the versions beyond crashes immediately!
When I launch the emulator it immediately crashes and tells me it had found a problem and needs to finish the program.
Best regards,
4DO_Tester
I find it weird that both of your computers crash. Is there something running on both computers that is perhaps conflicting with FourDO? Something that might use the video system too? I am really at a loss here. There has been 2 reports of crashing still so far and I don’t really see a common link between the two.
Also it looks like there is a limit to the threading on this reply system so hopefully you see this message.
can you double verify you have all prerequisites installed on your machine using the nvidia video? maybe even reinstall them? I think there is a problem with intel express chipsets currently unless someone can verify they have fourdo running on one. It really should work on your nvidia machine.
Hello again,
excuse me for being so late. I must admit, that I didn’t use VC++ 2010 Redistributable, nor SlimDX on the Nvidia-machine, cause I don’t want to install SlimDX there.
I tried to use SlimDX on a VMware virtual machine, together with Net Framework 4 and VC++ 2010 but that didn’t work.
Obviously, the Nvidia system should work with your emulator but I cannot confirm it, as long as SlimDX is needed for it.
On the ATOM platform, where Intel Express Chipset is used, the problem remains since 1.0.6.0 !
Might we forego on SlimDX in future versions?
Best regards,
4DO_Tester
Try deleting all your files, however exclude deleting games and bios.
Sometimes when new EMU version changes, it saves it’s settings diffrently, and when the new version loads an old settings file, it crashes.
Start from scratch your 4DO folder.
4DO 1.0.6.0 Alpha is the last version that works for me…The rest goes into an error and stops working before starting up,,,i have windows vista 32 bit dual core cpu intel…Thanks for your great work!!!
Have you tried updating your directx? I assume you have the other neccessary prerequisites since you said it used to work. I am not sure if the directx updates are necessary too but if this fixes your problem, please let us know.

Also if you are getting a specific error that would be helpful to know too.
Thanks for being so Fast…Already have the latest Directx…As for the error, it just says 4do has stopped working and must be closed down b4 it even starts…I have downloaded the 3 files that you guys wanted me to awhile back that ran the alpha version 150 thru 160 but 161 made 2 changes that crashes on me i guess…
Switched from DirectX11(using Direct2D) to DirectX9. This should allow for windows XP support.
Reverted processor architecture specification back to x86. I have a feeling this was the culprit to the broken x64 support.
I thought i let you guys know…
What video card/chipset do you have? Also have you tried a clean directory with no settings files?
I have Intel 8882945G Express Chipset Family…Brand New folder Install Everytime,,,
intel express chipsets might be acting up right now. do you have the latest video drivers for it from intel?
I have all the latest video drivers from intel a few days ago…Only 161 thru 163 4do dont work…All my other 3do emulators work as well as psx1 and psx2 and dreamcast emulators work just fine…
Try deleting all your files, excluding games and bios.
Sometimes a new EMU version changes how settings are saved and when the new version loads an old settings file, it crashes.
Start from scratch your 4DO folder.
