This is a bug fix release only.
Fixes:
- Switched from DirectX11(using Direct2D) to DirectX9. This should allow for windows XP support.
- Reverted processor architecture specification back to x86. I have a feeling this was the culprit to the broken x64 support.
Unfortunately, I can’t really test this on my own. I’m using Windows 7, 32-bit. If these fixes changes don’t revive Windows XP or 64-bit support, then I’ve got a problem! I have an XP virtual machine, but it has no DirectX support. Anyhow, I guess I’ll have to think of something if there’s ever a 4DO installer.

VSync works great here. Tried Gex, Demolition Man, NFS & Street Fighter II Turbo. Any idea when Xbox 360 controller support will be added please?
You tested Gex… does this mean it doesn’t crash after playing “in level” after a few minutes now?
When I played Gex, it always crashed after about a minute after entering a level.
It’s fine here.
Hi Johnny.
In general, look at problemma:
1 – All game shows like this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EsEXVAvr_Nw
2 – When recording video with Fraps, then it usually shows a real FPS, so here is version 1.6.0 and shows Core 60fps fraps shows 60fps.
In version 1.6.1 Core shows 60fps and Fraps shows 2500-2600 fps.
PS finally take away the brick background on the sides, leave just a black background!
Three times you ask, really so hard?
I have a Windows Seven SP1 32Bit
jonny can you do a audio cd emulation on 4do?
Did any 3DO game featured audio-CD? Coz i’ve played Road Rash or Need for speed that have entire soundtrack (it plays perfect) and it doesnt seem to be cd-audio, i mean, images doesnt have track info
And if there are games 4DO have physical/emulated CD support so i guess that tracks are already working
I think he meant to listen to audio CDs from the console menu. Wasn’t there some sort of screen display when playing audio CDs?
Oh, sorry then
Yeah, i’ve read the 3DO was the first console ever with audio cd player (didnt the PC Engine CD have one?) but i havent found it, i have only reached the memory management
There’s two bioses out there, maybe its exclusive of some model of 3DO. No clue
Actually, I tried to add this. I was not able to figure out how, though. Bummer. I may attempt to tackle this again one day.
Also… if you do end up doing an installer… please make a non installer download. I hate installers for EMUs. I like to just unzip and put the folder where I want and thats it 😀
Have to agree with the above comment about the bricks. Will cause screen burn with people (myself included) with plasma TV’s.
Really looking forward to reliving Gex on my 50″ plasma sitting on my sofa with my wireless Xbox 360 controller… hint hint 😉
Just update… I finally tested on my Win 7 sp1 64bit. Works great. I tested Gex. Still freezes after a minute in level. 🙂
This video problems seems to be some sort of “I am missing something I need to install” problem. This is happening on my 32bit vista and my 64bit win7 machines. So it’s not a 32bit vs 64bit issue. It’s working for some people so I can only think maybe it something I dont have. I would say maybe its video card drivers, but my 32 bit machine is pretty much up to date and it auto-updates. I tried updating DirectX with the optional updates and that didn’t seem to do it. I can’t figure it out.
You had said there was massive stuttering going on… but I think you said that this started with 1.0.5.0? That would be when the joystick support was introduced. That’s very odd.
Also, did 1.0.6.1 fix the crash from 1.0.6.0 for you?
the massive stutterting thing was probably just my vista machine. its odd like that. I didn’t test way older versions, but i bet they would do the same. I can verify that tommorow. im in bed using my 3ds and i have work in the morning so i cant check now.
1.0.6.1 does fix the 64bit start up bug but now like i said I am getting that scrambled video output (on 32bit and 64bit). which while running the bios, it now freezes in random spots with in 15 seconds or so on my 64bit machine (i didnt see if this was happening on 32bit). I think thats mostly due to the video not properly working for me. which i still dont understand why its working for some and not working for others. i’ll check back in tommorow.
It’ll help me out if I could send you some debug versions that will feed me some info on what’s going on. I’ll send you a message in 3DO Zero forums.
i’ll check after work today. 4:30pm cst.
